چکیده

Resistance to the expanded-spectrum cephalosporins has become a worldwide problem. Such resistance occurs primarily in members of the family Enterobacteriaceae via the production of extendedspectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs), which are capable of hydrolyzing the oxyimino-cephalosporins and monobactams (Bush et al., 2001; Pitout et al., 2004). It has recently been shown that the CTX-M β-lactamases are a group of molecular class A ESBLs that exhibit their powerful spectrum of hydrolysis of cefotaxime, but have only marginal effects on the MIC of ceftazidime. The blaCTX-M genes are predominatly present on transferable plasmids (Tzouvelekis et al., 2000); thus, the CTX-M β-lactamases-producing strains are enJ. Gen. Appl. Microbiol., 55, 207‒216 (2009)

Detection of CTX-M-β Lactamases form Isolated Klebsiella pneumoniae

Background and Objective: Organisms producing CTX-M β-lactamases are emerging as a source of resistance to oxyiminocefalosporins such as ceftriaxone and ceftazidime. However, the laboratory detection of these strains is not well defined. In this study, phenotypic assay for screening of extended-spectrum β-lactamases producing strains and molecular assay for the identification of CTX-M β-lact...

High Prevalence of CTXM-15 Type Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamase Among Clinical Isolates of Klebsiella Pneumoniae

Background: Production of β–lactamases by enterobacteriacea, especially Klebsiella pneumoniae, is one of the emerging health problems in the world. The purpose of this study was to assess the frequency of blaCTX-M15 gene in K. pneumoniae isolates and determine the molecular diversity of CTXM producing isolates. Methods: In...

Phenotypic and molecular characterization of CTX-M-14 extended-spectrum β-lactamase and plasmid-mediated ACT-like AmpC β-lactamase produced by Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates from chickens in Henan Province, China.

Extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs) and AmpC β-lactamases produced by a clinical isolate of Klebsiella pneumoniae from chickens were detected with confirmatory phenotypic tests of the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute. The minimum inhibitory concentrations of 18 antibacterial drugs against K. pneumoniae were determined by the 2-fold microdilution method. The genotype and sub...

Prevalence of blaCTX-M Gene among Extended- Spectrum β-Lactamases Producing Klebsiella pneumoniae Clinical Isolates in Iran: A Meta-Analysis

Background: CTX-M-type extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs) are the most prevalent ESBLs in bacterial members of Enterobacteriaceae family including Klebsiella pneumoniae. The global spread of CTX-M-producing K. pneumoniae is a major concern in most countries including Iran. The aim of this meta-analysis was to determine the relative frequency (RF) of blaCTX-M gene among ESBLs-producing K. pn...

Genetic properties of blaCTX-M and blaPER β-lactamase genes in clinical isolates of Enterobacteriaceae by polymerase chain reaction

Objective(s):blaCTX-Mand blaPER are two genes that encode class A extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs) and can be responsible for therapeutic problems. This study was carried out to evaluate the molecular properties of these genes in clinical isolates of Enterobacteriaceae by polymerase chain reaction (PCR), restriction digestion and sequencing. Materials and Methods: During six months, start...
